Sandstone Patio with New Lawn & Planting
This garden had been in need of some much-needed TLC for some time. As you can see from the before photos and videos, the existing layout made the garden feel smaller and more enclosed than it actually was. Raised brick planters took up valuable space, while the old lawn and shed made the garden feel tired and underused.
The aim of the project was to create a more open, practical and inviting garden while making the most of the available space. One of the main changes was to remove the raised brick planters and replace them with a larger sandstone patio. We selected a Raj Blend sandstone, which brings together warm, natural tones that complement the surrounding brickwork and house.
The patio was laid using a mixture of multi-sized sandstone paving slabs, creating a more natural and interesting pattern rather than a uniform grid. The new patio was carefully designed and constructed around an existing step, allowing us to improve the overall flow of the garden without having to completely alter the existing levels.
